Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 is in full swing, and �Ӱ���Ƶ is represented by dozens of employees who are committed to giving back.

Learn what has inspired these teammates (below) to volunteer at Invictus Games, an international adaptive sporting competition that helps veterans and service members recover from the wounds of their service.

Ellen Harrison joined �Ӱ���Ƶ Defence UK after a nearly 25-year career in the Royal Navy. She is a current Royal Navy Reservist and believes strongly in public service.

“I have a passion for public service; volunteering allows me to continue to serve in a different capacity. I also believe it is our duty to inspire the next generation to do the same. I am super excited to be volunteering for Invictus games and proud to work for a company that continues to support the military, veterans and their families.”

“Some people find the transition from military to civilian life quite challenging, so I wanted to be part of the support system. I also think it is key to share knowledge with those that have not served, to allow them space to understand their veteran counterparts and what they may have faced during their careers.”

Married to a U.S. Army veteran, Rick Tkach, a �Ӱ���Ƶ procurement analyst, feels a strong connection to the Invictus Games mission.

“My wife is a disabled veteran and my daughter, Mary, participates in Special Olympics in bocce, bowling and golf. I coach a lot of her other disability sports teams including soccer, basketball and baseball. It is incredible to see what the athletes can do!”

“What I like most about volunteering is coming together and helping people accomplish a tangible goal that will have a long-term positive affect. I bring my daughter as much as possible as well to teach her about the goodness of volunteering.”

Georgia Papa, BDS fabrication senior manager, is excited to be representing �Ӱ���Ƶ at Invictus Games.

“I’m so blessed in life, and I love to give back. I feel honored to be volunteering at Invictus Games, and I’m looking forward to meeting the competitors and their family and friends. �Ӱ���Ƶ has a strong commitment to veterans, and I’m proud to work for a company that walks the walk.

“I’m personally passionate about working with others to influence positive change, especially for those in our �Ӱ���Ƶ community with disabilities and caregivers.”

Renee Williams, global HR operations PMO lead, developed a strong commitment to volunteerism as a U.S. Army Reserves veteran.

“My involvement with the Invictus Games is a heartfelt expression of my patriotism and love for my veteran brothers and sisters around the globe. It is a privilege to serve and support them in their remarkable journeys.

“I strive to honor their service through my actions and community involvement. Volunteering enriches my life and allows me to inspire others through my own story of resilience and determination.

“When �Ӱ���Ƶ supports causes like the Invictus Games, it’s an opportunity to demonstrate camaraderie and to cheer on those who have faced significant challenges. My intersectionality encompasses many communities, and by dedicating my time, I aim to foster support and unity among them.”

Before joining �Ӱ���Ƶ, Wes Smith, BGS government and military aviation Americas regional director, served in the U.S. Navy, flying A-6s and F/A-18s.

“I enjoy giving back and positively contributing to veterans causes. I’m excited to interface with the many competitors, coaches and their families to ensure they have the best experience possible.”

“With so many veterans working at �Ӱ���Ƶ, I think supporting Invictus Games is an integral part of who we are as a company. We are also directly supporting our military customers. I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to volunteer at Invictus Games.”
